About the Chip
Each cartridge includes an integrated aftermarket chip — you do not need to reuse or transfer the chip from your old OEM cartridge. Simply install and print.
Note on toner level display: Some HP Color Laser printers may display a "low toner" or "supply problem" alert after installing compatible cartridges with aftermarket chips. If this occurs, dismiss the alert and continue printing — the cartridge is full and will perform normally. Monitor print quality directly rather than relying on the on-screen level indicator.
How to Install HP 215A Toner Cartridges
- Open the front door of your HP Color Laser printer
- Pull the toner carousel out if applicable, or access the individual slot
- Remove the old cartridge by pulling it straight out
- Take the new cartridge out of its packaging and shake it gently 5–6 times side to side to evenly distribute the toner
- Remove the orange pull tab or protective seal completely
- Slide the new cartridge into the correct color-coded slot until it clicks firmly into place
- Repeat for each color
- Close the front door and power on
- If prompted with a "non-HP" or "supply problem" message, press OK or Continue to proceed
Do not touch the green drum or chip contacts — fingerprints can cause print defects or recognition errors.
