Is There a High-Yield Version of the 79A?
No. HP does not make a high-yield version of the 79A (CF279A). The standard 1,000-page yield is the only option available for the M12 and M26 series printers.
How to Install HP 79A Toner Cartridge
- Open the front cover of your HP LaserJet Pro M12 or M26 printer
- Pull the old toner cartridge straight out by its handle
- Remove the new cartridge from its individual packaging and shake it gently 5–6 times side to side to evenly distribute the toner
- Pull the orange tab to remove the sealing strip completely
- Align the cartridge with the guides and slide it firmly back in until it clicks
- Close the front cover
- If a "non-HP cartridge" alert appears, press OK or Continue to proceed — this does not affect print quality
Do not touch the drum or chip contacts. Fingerprints can cause print defects or recognition errors.
First few pages darker than expected? This is normal on initial installation as the toner settles. Print quality normalizes after the first few pages, as one of our customers confirmed.
