How to Install HP 952XL Black Ink Cartridge
- Turn on your HP OfficeJet Pro printer and open the ink cartridge access door
- Wait for the carriage to move to the center replacement position
- Press down on the old black cartridge to release it and pull straight out
- Remove the new cartridge from packaging and peel off all orange protective tape completely — including any tape over the ink nozzles
- Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzle area — fingerprints can prevent proper printer recognition
- Slide the cartridge firmly into the black slot until it clicks into place
- Close the access door — the printer will run an alignment automatically
- If a "non-HP cartridge" or "used cartridge" message appears, press OK or Continue to proceed
If the cartridge is "not recognized": Remove the cartridge, wipe the copper contact strip gently with a dry lint-free cloth, reinsert firmly, and restart the printer. This resolves most recognition issues.
